Chocolate Cake Batter Smoothie

Sometimes life calls for chocolate.

As in....a whole glass of creamy chocolate goodness. All to yourself.

As a kid, every year when my birthday came around my parents would ask me what kind of cake I wanted. I would instantly request a bowl of brownie or cake batter. Chocolate batter was my favorite. Screw the cake...I wanted the batter. They quickly put the kibosh on my birthday cake batter dreams (thanks a lot, raw eggs). Don't worry though, my parents didn't disappoint and would end up getting me a pretty cool real cake. Disney princess cakes were a close runner up to raw cake batter.

This smoothie takes me back to my days of licking the cake or brownie batter bowl as a kid. Velvety, creamy, and full of smooth chocolate - minus the raw eggs and refined sugar. I was even able to sneak some fruit into the batter.

mwahaha.

Chocolate Cake Batter Smoothie (V + GF)

A creamy chocolate smoothie with fruit, protein, and rich flavor. Enjoy for breakfast, dessert, or a late night snack!

|Serves 2|

Ingredients

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 1/3 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 Tbsp almond butter (or peanut butter)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1.5 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 1 Tbsp chocolate chips (optional)
  • 1/3 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Enjoy!

Notes

*If you want it sweeter, add a dash of maple syrup or stevia.

*If you prefer it thicker, add less ice and a bit more almond milk.

*A high speed blender will blend the oatmeal completely smooth, but if you don't have a high speed blender you may have some oat bits. To avoid this, soak oats in almond milk for about 30 minutes in the fridge prior to blending everything together.
